Hey there, fabulous readers! Today, we’re diving into the whirlwind journey of creating the iconic Kente gowns for none other than the sensational Marie Wiseborn, wife of Moses Bliss. Hold onto your hats, because this story is a rollercoaster of creativity, surprises, and a touch of glamour!

It all started innocently enough on a seemingly ordinary day in October, 2023. Ding! We received a text from Marie, inquiring about our rates for designing and making Kente gowns. Little did we know, this text would set off a chain of events that would lead to us designing for one of the most talked-about brides in Africa.

Cassandra, a past client, had sung our praises to Marie, which led her to send us a text on Whatsapp . She initially said that she was enquiring for her soon to be bride sister. We swiftly responded with our rate card and set up a virtual appointment since Marie was not in Ghana at that time. At this point we didn’t know that she was the soon to be wife of Moses Bliss!

As fate would have it, we had been brewing up some stunning sketches just waiting for the perfect muse. We pitched one to Marie, and bam! She fell head over heels in love with it Let’s call this gown, Second kente gown. At this point, she was only eyeing one Kente dress.

Next up, fabric selection! We linked Marie with HG Kente Kiosk, a Kente fabric vendor in Accra. Through a virtual studio tour, Marie handpicked her favorites, settling on a gorgeous wine, orange, and champagne ombre combo, alongside a matching pattern Kente. The fabric she got was an instant choice of ours for this gown as well.

Once the fabric landed in our studio, it was go-time. We took Marie’s measurements online and dove headfirst into bringing our vision to life. But just when we thought we had everything under control, Marie dropped a bombshell: SHE NEEDED ANOTHER GOWN for the knocking session of the ceremony. Cue the panic mode! Let’s call this gown, First kente gown

Despite being booked solid, we rolled up our sleeves and squeezed in extra shifts to ensure Marie’s second kente dress was ready on time. Little did we know, the buzz around Marie was reaching fever pitch across the continent.

Fast forward, about a month to the wedding, and boy, was it a moment! With the internet ablaze with her name, after her proposal went viral. Our team couldn’t help but feel the pressure. but hey, pressure makes diamonds, right?

When she arrived in Ghana (About 10 days to the wedding) we set up an appointment for her first fitting session. First kente gown stole her heart, while second kente gown had her feeling a tad exposed in her cleavage. Fear not, dear readers, for we live for a challenge! We went back to the studio, and redesigned the top part of the second kente gown to include a beaded mesh. There wasn’t supposed to be a skin mesh on the top based on the original design. We however had to do this to cover her up some more, while maintaining the perfect blend of class and sass.

On to the detailing!!!!!!!

We settled on creating French royal fashion patterns with pink beads on the top of the first kente and beading along the designs in the patterned kente we picked for this dress.

Enter: the “chalice” theme. Picture this: intricate beadwork of alternating champagne, hot pink and orange-colored crystals forming half a chalice on top, seamlessly transitioning into the shape of her hips. This is what we designed for the second kente gown and it was a stroke of joy, to see this concept come to life!

As the grand event approached, Marie stepped into her gowns with an air of confidence and grace. With each gown she adorned, she radiated elegance and poise, leaving every guest in awe of her beauty.

In a heartwarming moment, Marie confessed, “I love both dresses so much; if I had to go back in time and make another choice, I’d choose these dresses again in a heartbeat.” Cue the collective sighs of satisfaction from our team, knowing that we had exceeded her expectations and left her feeling like the radiant bride she truly is.

But the cherry on top? Moses Bliss himself, the man of the hour, couldn’t tear his eyes away from his stunning bride. With a heartfelt expression, he expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you for making these gowns for my wife. They are so beautiful.” It was a touching moment that reminded us why we do what we do – to create memories that last a lifetime.

As Marie and Moses stepped into the spotlight, hand in hand, all eyes were on them, and we couldn’t help but feel a swell of pride knowing that we had played a part in making their special day even more magical. It’s moments like these that remind us why we’re in the business of making dreams come true, one stitch at a time.

And there you have it, folks! The whirlwind journey of creating the most talked-about Kente gowns of 2024 for the fabulous Mrs Marie Bliss. From humble beginnings to internet sensation, it’s proof that with a sprinkle of determination and a dash of grace, anything is possible in the world of fashion. Until next time, stay snipped!!!
